What’s in a Name?

For those of you who read the blog name and understand the reference, Bravo!  Bravissimo!  I’ll cook you the meal of your choice.  And for those of you who don’t recognize the reference, that’s ok.  But you should really read the Lord of the Rings.  “Filling up the corners” is the term hobbits use to describe that time period following a large meal where they continue to nibble at their favorite tidbits.  I imagine they often fill up the corners, due to the frequency of daily meals and neighborhood parties.

I don’t know whether corners were filled in the Shire as a result of high quality food or simply because it’s in the nature of a hobbit to eat… all the time… but I’m sure all of you have experienced a similar feeling before.  Imagine sitting at the dinner table, surrounded by friends, having just finished a sumptuous feast, refilling your wine glass, nibbling the last of the goods, and feeling completely satiated.  So go forth to cook, eat, and have fun while doing so.

Joanie sent me. I work with her. Your recipes look yummie. I don’t cook nearly as often as I should since my husband died and I’m only cooking for myself and my daughter. This looks like a blog to inspire me.

I’m so glad you stopped by, Carol! Everyone has their hobbies… cooking just happens to be one of mine. And it serves multiple purposes by keeping me occupied, and feeding John and I. I try to keep the scale small since I, also, am only cooking for 2 people… but I somehow always end up with leftovers. I never post anything that I didn’t like, and I try to present a variety of dishes. If you ever have any suggestions or meal challenges, let me know and I am happy to post results on the blog.

      Happy cooking!
